Apothecary Pocket - Thread and Yarn

A paper sewing pattern to create your own Apothecary Pocket - a tie-on pocket bag you can sew by hand or machine. It includes the pocket shape template plus a step-by-step photo tutorial for making a patchwork star front.

Perfect for holding knitting on the go, foraging, or gathering garden herbs.

Fabric suggestions:
Use natural woven fabrics like linen, cotton, or hemp. You’ll need approx.:

• 52 × 75 cm outer fabric
• 52 × 75 cm lining
• 35 cm binding (4–5 cm wide)
• Waist tie binding (your waist measurement + 70 cm)

Inspired by historical tie-on pockets, once worn under skirts to carry personal items, often beautifully decorated despite being hidden.
